Teaching staff at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) have an additional role this academic year - that of anti-ragging patrol officers who will conduct surprise checks in college campus and at houses or lodges where their students stay in groups outside the campus.
This is to prevent ragging and harassment of students both in and outside the campus, following the commencement of first year classes, a press release said.
TIST principal Dr D Vincent H Wilson said anti-awareness manuals have been distributed and orientation classes held for senior students in compliance with a government directive on anti-ragging. First year students have been given an emergency contact numbers. The college has partnered with District Legal Service Authority to conduct regular anti-ragging campaigns," he said.
